Peanut free snacks spotlight: Baked apples with SunButter

It’s first frost in many areas of the country. Our beloved sunflowers are even getting a dusting in farmers’ fields and backyard gardens.

Chilly days call for warm peanut-free snacks, such as these super easy Baked Apples. We found many ways to serve up these peanut-free snacks with SunButter, too!

Baked Apple with SunButter Granola!

Baked Apple with gluten-free bread spread with SunButtter and pumpkin spice coffee topped with cream and sprinkled with cinnamon.

Baked Apple with Pita Chips and SunButter Hummus!

Ingredients:

Apples, cored (but not peeled) – we used Honeycrisp and Gala

1/2 c. apple cider or apple juice

1/4 c. water

1/4 c. brown sugar

Apple pie spice, nutmeg, cinnamon to taste

Directions:

Put apple cider/juice and water in crockpot. Place apples on top liquid. Fill apples cavities with brown sugar and sprinkle with spices. Cook on low 6 – 8 hours.

Tips: Cook all night and wake up to the warm aroma of baking apples and a hearty breakfast! Cook all day and welcome the kids home from school with a tasty peanut-free snack!
